
I first started training my body seriously over 30 years ago by becoming involved in the field of martial arts. I learned the value of having a strong mind/body connection because of that, and many studies have proven the importance of that link. After 5 years of martial arts, I moved on to personal training, taking with me many of the valuable lessons I had learned along the way. Even today, I still incorporate many of the exercises learned during that time, starting with a strong core and strong legs!
I use a variety of methods that I have found tremendously successful, whether your goal is to lose weight, gain strength and endurance, or even to help reshape your body! I don't promise miracles, but I do promise success if you stick with it- and I LOVE to HELP people set their goals and then motivate and help them to achieve those goals! I use circuit training, functional training, body weight and suspension exercises to get my clients the success they want! I have trained clients from Miami Beach to NYC, from people 7 years old to 95 years young...even Olympic athletes and pregnant women! One of my female clients (who had a pacemaker in her chest since the age of 4!) lost over 50 pounds in 6 months, and started a brand new path in her life!
I like to compare my health philosophy to a table top with four equal distinct legs- ALL legs are important for optimum health, and ALL have to be utilized to attain it. One leg is ANAEROBIC, or high intensity strength movements. The second leg is AEROBIC, or cardio. Another is FLEXIBILITY, which is not "stretchiness" but it's the ability to have your muscle go to its furthest length and still have strength. And last but not least, BALANCE... balance between your top and bottom, front and back, side to side, balance in just the ability to stand on one leg easily; lost balance is one of the markers for aging and it is lost if we don't challenge it! And isn't that true about life- how balance is so important for work, play, family...
